Beginner Classes

ZumbaFunFit holds beginner classes in the Fall (September) session and the Winter (January) session. These beginner classes are designed to allow you to get a gradual introduction to the moves and steps at an easy pace. The classes are also perfect as refresher courses for those that joined after the last beginner session.

Most of the Zumba steps and music are adapted from dancing steps and moves from cultures such as Latin-speaking, African, Indian as well as steps from some pop-music songs. They may not be familiar to you, but they are fun to learn and the exercise just happens along the way.

Do not worry if you feel uncoordinated. It takes some time for the mind to get accustomed to watching a demonstration then repeat it and finally to add the beat of the music to it! Gradually this becomes easier with repetition.

Since Zumba is fitness oriented the dance steps for the beginner classes start off gently aerobic and gradually pick up the pace over the four weeks.

At end of the four week session we invite you to participate in our regular schedule of classes at any of our locations.

In between these beginner sessions you can join anytime with our new participant special of three classes for $10.

Format

Each beginner session is four consecutive weeks in length with one class per week each lasting approximately 45 minutes. They are usually held just before a regular class.

There are two locations for the beginner sessions: Carleton Place and Almonte.

Louise will demonstrate a particular step then ask you to join in with the music. A song will comprise a sequence of these steps designed to flow with the music and exercises particular muscles.

Generally the class comprises a warmup, dance songs, then a cool down and stretch.
